Supermarket Sweep - the best of the supermarkets

Written by Catherine Seagrave

Supermarkets are upping their game, and it's definitely worth checking out the homeware aisles for some hidden gems at affordable prices.

I don’t know about you, but I hate grocery shopping. The monotony of it every week, with the only inspiration for dinner offered up by the kids being “McDonalds”. But over the years there’s been a quiet revolution happening in our supermarkets, and I’ve been finding it increasingly hard to walk past the home aisles without stopping for a look. They've actually become destinations in their own right for stylish homeware!

And whilst we’re all stuck in lockdown, being able to browse some ‘nice things’ along with my baked beans has lifted my spirits. I like to justify the time spent as multitasking at its best, keeping up to date with the home trends and feeding my family all in one. And if the odd candle or rug slips into my basket, it becomes an essential item, surely?! Guilt free.

This week we’ve rounded up the best new finds from Asda, Sainsbury’s, Tesco and Aldi - yes, even Aldi are getting in on the act. They have some really well priced furniture online - so good that even Becky has succumbed and bought a rattan chest of drawers this week!! And I am being very tempted by the Berber rug from Sainsbury’s for only £40.

So take a look at our supermarket sweep below and see if you find the odd plant sneaking into your shopping basket along with the Crunchy Nut Cornflakes!!
