Independent home stores - Bath edition

Written by Sophie Clemson

A few weekends ago, I enjoyed a birthday weekend away in the beautiful city of Bath. It had always been a place I had wanted to visit and I was not disappointed with its gorgeous buildings, history and of course wide array of lovely home stores to browse for hours!

You may have read a recent blog from me all about my home renovation. It took quite a long time to actually get the keys to the house and then we had the task of renovating - all before we eventually moved in. This felt like a really long time, so to be at a stage where I can browse all the home shops is so lovely and you will often catch me leaving with something new! I will admit, I do have quite an addiction for buying vases and candles (I have stopped counting how many I own!). So Bath was the perfect location for my birthday trip with plenty of home shops to explore. Now I can shop for my home at last!!

If only I knew how many beautiful home stores Bath has to offer I would have visited much much sooner! There are so many interesting interior shops you could spend hours walking around and when you think you’ve been in them all, another one will pop up as soon as you turn the corner. I love independents as you always come across pieces you can’t find on the high street. On Saturdays they have an antiques and flea market which is right up my street. I love mixing older pieces with new for an eclectic look.

Not only is Bath a lovely city with so many beautiful buildings filled with lots of character, it is an amazing interior shopping destination. Of course this is made even better with the fabulous coffee shops and afternoon cocktail bars that Bath has to offer. Perfect for a couple of refreshment breaks in between the shops! If you haven’t visited already, Bath is definitely a must. I already can’t wait to go back and explore some more.

I have shared with you four of my favourite home stores I visited and loved. It was great to come across so many beautiful stores that I can share with you!

Whole Lotta Knots

Whole Lotta Knots is a gorgeous boho style store specialising in creating beautiful bespoke Macrame wall hangings by Polly the founder. WLK also has lots of other lovely pieces such as ceramic vases, textured cushions, rattan accessories and the most beautiful antique rugs - I really wanted to take one home with me! When you walk in the store it feels so calm and peaceful. It has such a lovely atmosphere and is so beautifully styled, I didn’t want to leave!

We can shop from anywhere to suit your style and budget. Click here to get started.

Biggie Best

Biggie Best is a beautiful store with French inspired home decor along with vintage furniture. I really loved their floral artwork pieces and beautiful linen patterned cushions. They had a lovely collection of baskets that were perfect for plants or stylish storage. Biggie Best also have their own home fragrance range which makes the perfect gift or a treat for yourself! If you love the french inspired interiors mixed with modern cottage style pieces then Biggie Best is a must visit!

French Grey

French Grey is such a gorgeous store with a beautiful eye-catching shop front that really draws you in, tempting you to find out what interior goodies are hidden inside. What really caught my eye was the artwork. I love anything botanical and one piece was a set of four palm tree prints which had a vintage look and feel. They would look great above a sideboard or console (I’m now thinking where they could be placed in my home!). If you like pieces that are a little quirky you would love the rabbit lamp. I loved the black lamp shade on this interesting table lamp, it would definitely be a statement feature in your room.

Botanica Studios

When I walked into Botanica Studios it felt like plant heaven! The shop was filled with so many gorgeous plants, it felt like you were in a jungle. I was very happy here! As you may already know at The Living House we absolutely love plants, so this shop was a dream. Botanica started out as a market stall before they had their beautiful store in Bath. The shop is covered from floor to ceiling with botanical beauties. If you are a plant addict like us at TLH then you can’t take a trip to Bath without visiting here!
